I love this tomatoe. This was my first year growing anything, and I chose the purple cherokee as one of my crops. It was off to a slow start but quickly made up for it in fruit production. I have one plant that has about 15-20 ripening fruit on it. I got to taste one for the first time and WOW what a treat. This has made it to the top of my list as all time best tomatoe I have had! It was very sweet and so juicy. The only reason I gave it four stars is for the fact that they do crack. But just cut around it and enjoy! Next season I plan to have two plants instead of one.

HEIRLOOM TOMATO:Heirloom Tomatoes are just what their name implies. They have been handed down, through generations of farmers and gardeners, from family member to family member. Many of these tomato varieties are known to have thrived since the 1800's.
Unlike hybrids, they are not selectively bred for taste or appearance. They are open-pollinated, growing 'true to type' plants, like their predecessors, from seed. Heirloom Tomato Plants will add untraditional color and pleasing variety to your garden harvest.
Cherokee Purple Tomato:Indeterminate - 80 days - This variety has origins with the native American people of the Cherokee Nation, it is a Tennessee heirloom tomato. Very productive plants bear loads of 10 to 12 ounce dark rose/purple fruit with deep brick red interiors. Fruits are round to oblate, with no cracking. Exhibits tolerance to mild drought and tolerance to common diseases. The tomatoes are absolutely delicious with a pleasantly sweet and rich flavor. Fruits are somewhat perishable, but they taste so good they will be eaten quickly.
