(More customer reviews)This steamer is great for dumplings and vegetables, though its shape makes it difficult to tell how much water is left in the pot you're steaming it over, and the bamboo comes into contact with very hot pans, producing a slight smoky smell sometimes. The more you use it, the more the bamboo will relax with age. My only real problem with this steamer is that it's somewhat small (6" diameter), but I couldn't find a larger one.
Try it for steaming vegetables, fish, or even rice. Inexpensive, but well-made.

For healthy, flavorful cooking at home, turn to this three-piece bamboo steamer. Measuring 6 inches in diameter by about 5 inches tall, it can accommodate a whole meal--place chicken and potatoes on one level and a medley of broccoli, zucchini, and bok choy on the other. Its dual-level design makes it possible to steam twice as much at the same time as a traditional steamer. Simply arrange any assortment of food on one or both tiers, cover with the double-woven bamboo lid, set the steamer in a wok or over a sauce pan that has a little water in it, and heat the water.
Steam cooking does not require the use of any oil or butter, which allows for low-fat healthy options, plus it preserves more vitamins and nutrients than other cooking methods. Made of naturally sustainable bamboo, the steamer will not swell, split, or absorb moisture, and it effectively retains heat to ensure a flavorful, evenly cooked meal. The lower level of the steamer will cook food more quickly, so use it for larger items; the top tier works well for vegetables or smaller pieces that require less cooking time. The bamboo steamer offers a great way to cook and serve Asian-inspired foods with authentic flair, and it cleans up easily be hand and should be dried thoroughly before storing.
