(More customer reviews)On a quest to save some $$ on my Aerogarden adventures ;) I purchased a pack of these Sure to Grow Cubes and also another competitor's foam inserts.
In the Aerogarden 3 they work beautifully. Just push them down into the recycled seed pod, use a toothpick to stretch the cottony material to the bottom of the basket and viola! all set! They hold water well and I see the roots seem to spread out very nicely when the plant gets bigger. Only small complaint is that the surface is very hard to keep even so you have to be a bit more careful in putting the seed on top and not having it roll off the side of the pod.
In the Aerogarden Classic 7 pod I have these don't work as well without modification. The seed pods are too shallow and it seems that compacting these cubes is not good for the plant in the end. So if you want these for the larger Aerogardens I suggest doing what I did and snipping off a bit of the end to make the material fit into the seed basket a bit easier.
I use my AG to start plants to put into soil around my house and have put these starter cubes into soil without any issue. Nice choice to save some money from those expensive dealer refills.
